I’ve been having stomach issues lately, and just feeling generally ‘low-energy’. A friend turned me on to a book they recently read about a new ‘eating plan’ that consists of going back to the way humans used to eat. Not sure if many people are aware of this building revolution in the way we think about fats, meats, and carbs. I read the book and it blew-my-mind. The writer, Dr. Mettja C. Roate, goes into his/her personal story of being on the brink of a health and nutrition meltdown. The medical ‘establishment’ only tried to use all their ‘conventional science’ and hundreds of years of ‘medical advancements’ to help – no help. Vegetarian and vegan diets only made things worse, even when eaten while a Moby CD was playing. No. Something had to change.
There’s a line in the book that had me hooked right away, I quote: “Seasoned ground meat held captive in a casing goes way back into ancient history. Who invented the wiener or ‘hot dog’ as we know it today is open to claim and debate.” Titillating! Dr. Roate goes on to dispel the rumors around the eating habits of our forefathers and ‘clues us in’ to what many middle-aged unfiltered chain-smoking fathers of the 60’s new too well – Hot dogs are not just a nourishing food, they’re a lifestyle choice.

I opted out of the 2-week Vienna sausage detox and have jumped right in. I’m starting a 30-day eating plan based on the Dr. Roate’s teachings and am pretty pumped to, as he/she puts it, ‘melt those extra pounds and regain kingly fitness like the dashing Oscars and Miers of old.’ Tonight…hotdog surprise #1 – technically an appetizer, but soo filling!!

As always I’ll keep you up-to-date on my progress!!
Go-Snouts!

Hemorrhoids much? Rhetorical questions much? So I purchased a 2003 Kona hardtail as a project bike. Use ‘So’ much? With the intention of cleaning it up and transforming it into a commuting coulee crusher. Well my friends, as W said – mission accomplished. I turned this fresh into a fully-rigid single track ‘gobbler’. Yes gobbler. Gobbler. Complete with Surly 1x1 rigid fork. Tonight was the madden ride. It rocked. This set-up made riding the local trails a whole new experience. I need cream.
Go-ride.
