Man and Board Down...
Tired, but see the ’short’ from today’s trip to Castle below. It was a huge powder day. First day back for me in a while - still fighting some weird sinus infection.
Good news - I was pointing it. Some places the video almost looks sped-up.
Bad news - I blew an edge on my 3-month old Burton Supermodel. I hit a rock that was buried in the pow. Thankfully when I wrecked there...

Nice to be back...
I’ve been out of the game for a few weeks with a wicked flu. Fianlly got back to Castle mountain yesterday. Great day. Perfect subzero temps and the groomers were riding really nice - which is good becauseI wanted to hammer some freestyle. There was no-one at the hill.
Check out Davey Cakes in the vid - carving turns and weav;n through the the trees. Hard to believe Davey just started...

Best Scene: What do you say about a guy who played a semi-pivotal role in Rambo Part 2? And, in the same year was in Murder She Wrote? They say Landsberry handpicked him for the role. No, all these roles are titillating, but I definitely have to say my first and best memory of Charles is as ‘Adam’ the space-hippy in the Star Trek original series. This episode sucked in a particularly good way....

The Big F - Opening Day Go-Ride. Results...
Friday was the official opening of Fernie Alpine Resort for the 2011/12 season. Last year’s opening day was approximately when I started this blog, and also marked my return as an SB enthusiast. Last year’s opener by all accounts was ‘epic’ – loads of powder, fresh turns on newly opened runs and no crowds to speak of.
This year’s opener was also epic, but for other reasons. I would describe the...

That’s the happiest guy around. Giddy from powder and steeps on a blue-bird day. This Friday is the official start of the Go-Ride. SB season – opening day at Fernie-Fish. Tomorrow night will be filled with uber-dope vids – Art of Flight, Deeper, etc – and then an early Friday drive to the hill. Pumped.

WatchFire storm - here’s what things looked like on Sunday evening when I arrived home from Calgary. You can see the blue sky up above. This is not night - it’s the smoke and ash from the fires west of the city during a 100+km windstorm. My neighbors were all ‘evacuating’ when I arrived home. Disconcerting.

This weekend…
So far so good. E-Mack and I hit the slopes yesterday for the first time this year. It was awesome. I’m sore as the muscles I haven’t used for a year have atrophied into jerky. You know that little-one on your lead leg just above the ankle on the outside. What is that? It hurts. Anyway, we stomped some 180’s, dirtied a few 3’s, did a lil’ bit of ‘floating’ and generally had a ‘Rad’ time.

Progression 2011/12
As some of the early hills start to open runs (Lake Louise, Sunshine, etc), the opening days for our southern slopes seem very far away (early December). While ‘jonesing’ for my rediscovered snowboard love I reflect on my goals for this my second season back on the slopes. Here they are in no particular order (but totally in order):
1 – Go Faster – Learning to butter and spin at low...

Tids and Bits
A - Here’s how crewer DC spends his sundays. Instead of doing yard clean-up he lays down some plywood covers with leaves and throws 180’s. PS I love his board.
